MSM Methyl Sulphonyl Methane
Why MSM Helps!
The question which is frequently asked is, where is MSM found?
The cycle of MSM begins in the
ocean, in microscopic plants called plankton. These release sulphur compounds into the
ocean water, which are then released up into the atmosphere. Here the atmospheric sulphur
is converted into MSM which then falls back to earth in the rain.
Plants take up MSM very rapidly into their root systems and concentrate it a hundred-fold.
MSM is incorporated into the plant's structure, and we humans can then absorb it from the
fruit and vegetables that we eat. Eventually MSM finds its way back to the sea and the
sulphur cycle begins again.
Today, however, we are processing too many foods, which reduces the MSM content, and we
may be getting less MSM into our bodies that we require.
How Safe is MSM?
Dr Jacob has been studying the
toxicity level of MSM for several decades and has found that it is one of the least toxic
substances in biology.
MSM is similar in toxicity to
water. Common table salt is more toxic than MSM. The lethal dose of MSM for mice is over
20 grams per kilogram of body weight, an extraordinarily low toxicity.
However, to be absolutely sure that MSM was safe, Dr Jacob has himself been taking 30
grams a day for the last 20 years with no harmful effect.
